On the opposite side of the Saint Sophia
Cathedral and Bohdan Khmelnitsky's monument there is a Mykhailivsky Cathedral. Its
reconstruction has not been finished yet, but you can see the bell tower This picture was
made in Summer 1998. Later that year the main part of the cathedral was finished. Right
here, on the wall, you can see the pictures of Mykhailovsky Cathedral, and if you would
come closer, you would see (first) , than read all its history. For several times
Mykhailovsky Cathedral was destroyed by fire or by Barbarians.
Near the cathedral you can see a cross, it is a monument to
Holodomor. In 1930-33 there was a big famine in Ukraine. The cross was build in memory of
all who did not survive the disaster.
